COVID-19 Support Initiatives: MAC19 Donates to ACVP, Member Of The Comoros COMFWB Chapter
MAC19 (Moroni Anti Covid 19) is an association of Comorians, mainly from the capital Moroni, from different backgrounds, created in 2020 during the pandemic to help fight against COVID-19 in the country and sensitize the population on the prevention measures to be taken.
The President of the Comoros COMFWB Chapter, Mrs Naila ABBAS THABIT as a member of MAC19 organized on the 14th March 2021 with her colleagues of MAC 19 a donation of sanitary materials (500 face masks and hand sanitizing gels) to one of the member association of the COMFWB COMOROS CHAPTER in the fishery sector, the ACVP (Association Comorienne des Vendeuses de Poissons).
According to Mrs Thabit, this distribution aimed at helping these women protect against the COVID, particularly during their work in the markets where they sell fishes. The women are part of the most vulnerable community as they cannot confine themselves during this period, they must go to the markets and sell their fishes in order to maintain their incomes. Therefore, they are daily in contact with many people and need to protect themselves.
In their speeches, the President of the ACVP and its Secretary General thanked MAC 19 and the President of the COMFWB for the donation, and for the support to their activities.
