Comoros Chapter Benefits from Training on Good Hygiene Practice in Smoking and Drying

Women entrepreneurs from the COMFWB Comoros Chapter participated in a training on the technique of smoking and drying fish and octopus. The training was conducted in Moroni, from 15 to 19November, 2021 at the Retaj otel and was funded by the International Labor Organization (ILO) with a view to supporting and strengthening the fishing sector through a support mechanism based on the conservation and processing of seafood products in favor of the Comorian economy.
The training was supported by the Mouvement des Entreprises Comoriennes(MODEC) and the Ministry of Employment and the Confederation of Comorian Workers (CTC). It took place over five days, leading to results in the exchange and transfer of knowledge.
“This action has just given concrete expression to President Azali's motto (“one young person, one job), because we cannot all have places in public administrations. But the duty of the State is to create means allowing women to move from unemployment to the professional world. It is to train them and provide them with the financial means to enable them to implement their projects,” explained Ms. Amina Bacar Chelou, Deputy National Director of Labor and Employment.
After the training on drying and smoking, the 40 participants, including nine members of the COMFWB Chapter, received equipment kits enabling them to put their knowledge into practice.
