COMFWB CEO meets with the representatives of WISE Bank
Mrs. K. Ichoya, CEO of COMFWB held discussions with Mrs Mutabaruka Nadine Managing Director of the Women’s Initiative for Self-Empowerment (WISE) Bank in Burundi on 16 June 2017.
The Wise Bank was created by the members of the Burundi Women Association of Entrepreneurs with technical support of COMFWB/COMESA and a loan facility from PTA Bank. Currently more than 15,000 women bank with WISE Bank.
WISE Bank is the first women owned bank to be established in the COMESA region. COMFWB in partnership with WISE will be documenting the best practices developed in the implementation of WISE with the view of setting up similar structures in the COMESA region. The setting up of Women owned finance institutions will improve women entrepreneurs’ access to affordable credit, capital and technology for expansion of women owned enterprises.
