COMFWB Board Chairperson Mrs Maureen Sumbwe urges COMFWB Malawi Chapter Board of trustees to adopt modern Governance Practices


Lilongwe, Malawi – The Chairperson of the COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB), Mrs Maureen Sumbwe, has called on the Malawi Chapter's Board of Trustees to embrace Contemporary Governance Practices. Addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day Board Governance Training, Mrs Sumbwe emphasized the need for proactive and informed Leadership to navigate the evolving landscape of organizational governance.

A Governance expert from Zambia, the COMFWB Board Chairperson underscored the importance of well-structured Governance systems for organizational success. She commended the Malawi Chapter for organizing the training and encouraged participants to apply the acquired knowledge to strengthen their governance processes.

COMFWB Malawi Chapter Chairperson, Mrs Selina Mwenelupembe, expressed gratitude for the training, describing it as an eye-opener. She affirmed the Board's commitment to implementing the lessons learned to enhance women's participation in Business and Trade.

COMFWB Chief Executive Officer, Chikakula Miti, also praised the Malawi Chapter for organizing the training, which he believes will significantly improve the operational efficiency of COMFWB's National Chapters.

The two-day training focused on various aspects of effective governance, including Board development and organizational structure. As part of the GIZ Malawi MIERA project, the training is expected to empower the Board to oversee the implementation of initiatives more effectively and drive the Malawi Chapter towards its goal of fostering Women's active participation in Trade and Business across Malawi.
