COMFWB 5th TRADE FAIR PRESS BRIEFING : Enhancing participation of Women Entrepreneurs in the COMESA regional Markets under the AfCFTA
The 5th COMFWB TRADE FAIR and Business conference scheduled for 28th and 29th June, 2024 in Antananarivo, Madagascar is being organized by COMESA Federation of National Associations of Women in Business (COMFWB) in partnership with GFEM, the COMFWB Madagascar Chapter.
In preparation for this event, a press briefing was held on 4th March, 2024 at CENTELL Hotel, Antananarivo, Madagascar. In her Speech Ms. Angeline WIBABARA, pointed out that the business conference will hinge on The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as it presents a transformative opportunity for fostering women's economic empowerment and advancing the green economy across the continent. Through AfCFTA, women entrepreneurs gain access to larger markets, enabling them to scale their businesses and participate more actively in trade.
Mrs Fanja RAZAKABOANA, the Madagascar chapter chairperson, further emphasized that by promoting sustainable practices and renewable energy initiatives within the framework of AfCFTA, African nations can mitigate environmental degradation and promote eco-friendly economic growth. This convergence of AfCFTA, women's economic empowerment, and the green economy underscores a pivotal moment for Africa to harness its potential for inclusive and sustainable development.
The theme for the Trade Fair and Business Conference is “Enhancing participation of Women Entrepreneurs in the COMESA regional Markets under the AfCFTA anchored on Green investment, value addition and tourism.” And aims to showcase economic opportunities within the region and will bring together the private sector in COMESA, UN System, COMESA Member States, civil society organizations, youth groups to address the critical actions required to bridge gender gaps, highlight the urgent need for strategic investment in gender equality and women’s empowerment, and showcase and celebrate key successes and best practices.
Furthermore, there will be business to business linkages forged by the participants
