COMESA Institutions Collaborate to Enhance Regional Integration Efforts
Chief Executive Officers from ten COMESA institutions joined by the Executive Management from COMESA Secretariat are meeting for the 2nd Retreat today in Lusaka to chart the way forward on how to enhance collaboration as they work to realize the aims and objectives of the Common Market for the people in the region.
Each institution is making a brief presentation on their activities taking into account the objectives, policies, programmes and activities of the Common Market in the implementation of their different Charters.
The participating institutions include the COMESA Monetary Institute, COMESA Clearing House, COMESA Competition Commission, COMESA Business Council, COMESA Federation of Women in Business, COMESA- ACTESA and African Trade Insurance Agency. Others are the COMESA Court of Justice, the COMESA re-insurance Company, African Leather and Leather Products Institute, REARESA and the East African Power Pool. Some of the topical issues under discussion include the need to create a robust joint visibility plan for COMESA and all her Institutions in order to sell the COMESA brand. Secretary General Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe officially opened the retreat.
